Working with carefully selected very specific products allows me to be much better able to predict response and outcome, especially in acute situations. As you know, Supplement Quality can vary widely because there are no quality standards in the industry. The manufacturers I choose for you all hire independent labs to assay their products to assure content and purity. They also participate in nutritional research and legislative efforts at expanding health care choice and coverage.

SUPPLEMENT QUALITY

Clinical experience has shown me that for a supplement or an herbal preparation to achieve reliable results, it must be of the highest possible quality. Quality, however, varies widely because there are no quality standards in the industry. Labels are not necessarily telling the whole truth.

Vitamin E products are a good example. Laboratory analysis has shown many do not have the full stated concentration. A few had no vitamin E in them at all. Most brands used only the alpha form as it is cheaper. Or a synthetic form. The natural “mixed tocopherols” are the most beneficial, but more expensive.

Fortunately, I relieve you of the burden of concern in this area.

Every supplement recommended for ordering from specific producers has been evaluated by me. The manufacturers I choose for you all hire independent labs to assay their products to assure content and purity. I look to see an assessment that shows at least:

  • No microbial contamination – bacteria, yeast/mold
  • No heavy metals – lead, mercury, cadmium, arsenic or aluminum
  • No chemical solvent residue, pesticides, herbicides
  • No rancidity
  • No cheap fillers added
  • Potency of contents is as label states - it is legal for a label that states 100mg bioflavonoid complex to actually be 30 mg bioflavonoid and 70 mg lactose (milk sugar)
  • Potency of contents is stable until expiration date
  • No dioxins, mercury, PCBs in fish oil products

All of the products I specifically recommend are:

  • Manufactured according to the strict standards of the United States Pharmacopeia
  • Hypoallergenic – many natural supplements are derived from common allergens such as corn, soy, yeast, dairy, eggs – cheap ones have food dyes.
  • Herbs supplied by growers who devote their lives to the understanding of the medicinal properties of specific parts of plants, their harvesting, storing and processing.

You’ll have the best response in the shortest period of time with the highest quality supplements.

They do cost more up front, but often you make that back by needing to take fewer over less time.

And really cheap products may contain impurities or additives that could actually make you worse.
