NEWEST NEWS (for existing Patients)

The Office Moved August 1st!

I am now doing consultations in my scenic and serene home office. The space is on the 2nd floor of the barn on my historic property, just off of Harvard’s picturesque Common. I am no longer at the Concord Clinic.

My office hours are Monday through Thursday 9 am - 7 pm

There is no receptionist in the new space. You will need to leave me a voice mail or email (janet@janetbeaty.com) when I am with a patient or out of the office.

Important Pharmacy Changes

My new office is as small as it is serene and scenic. The space for stocking/packing pharmacy is quite limited and there is a task force of one (me) to handle all the incoming/outgoing orders/shipping.

Collectively, we need my focus to be more on providing Health Care and less on detail management. For that purpose, I am designing my ideal WEBRETARY of which this page is a part. Hopefully, this will enable me to respond to your medical needs more efficiently.

To this end, whenever possible please communicate by email rather than telephone when requesting an appointment or placing an order.

The New Pharmacy Plan

I will continue to carry those items not otherwise available to you. You may pick them up at the office or I will mail them to you if you wish. For a list of what is carried in the office, please see the Online Store page.

Keep an extra bottle on hand of any product you would be uncomfortable without for a few weeks. I may be away just when you need a refill.

And...you can now order MANY of your supplement refills directly from Emerson Ecologics. For a list of what is carried by Emerson Ecologics, please see the Online Store page.

Working with very specific products allows me to be much better able to predict response and outcome, especially in acute situations. As you know, Supplement Quality (more info) and vary widely because there are no quality standards in the industry. The manufacturers I choose for you all hire independent labs to assay their products to assure content and purity. They also participate in nutritional research and legislative efforts at expanding health care choice and coverage.

LICENSING EFFORTS (for all Patients/Supporters)

As of September 1st

On December 1st our 2005 licensing bill was officially filed at the State House. Lead sponsors are Rep. Kathy Teahan on the House side and Sen. Marc Pacheco on the Senate side. Technically we have two bills which are absolutely identical, one is a House bill (HB4250) and one is a Senate bill (SB1313). This is nothing new but is a strategy to get support and get this thing passed.

On June 30th, we passed favorably out of the Public Health Committee!

The next committee on our path to licensing is the Health Care Finance Committee, co-chaired by Sen. Moore who is not one of our fans. Fortunately, we do have friends on the committee, but we will need more when the time comes.

How You Can Help

Go to the Massachusetts Society of Naturopathic Doctors website (www.msnd.org). Read some of the history of our licensing efforts and follow the links to get involved on a state level by contacting your rep or senator at a crucial time. I do hope you’ll choose to have a voice in the choice of health care

Let me know you’re interested. A pre-arranged phone tree and up to date email addresses are the only way to be effective with the inevitable last minute notice.

Grassroots efforts are essential to issues like health care. Legislators listen when their constituents speak.

Donate what you can. Minimally, we have to support a lobbyist.

August 2nd message from Carol Rainville, N.D. President of the Massachusetts Society of Naturopathic Doctors:

“I do have one request for each of you - Your help with licensing. No effort is too small. What we have achieved this year is truly significant. We have moved our bill favorably out of the Public Health Committee and changed the language requiring collaboration with MDs to be much less restrictive and to better reflect how we normally practice. Now we need to prepare for lobbying the Health Care Finance Committee. This may very well be the moment in time we have all been waiting for – but it is clearly not a time for waiting. This effort is alive and powered with startling energy. Let’s make sure it is sustained and nurtured. I believe that together we will achieve our goal – passage of a state licensing bill”.

Let’s add our vote!
