BIOGRAPHY

A native New Englander, I earned a Masters degree in Education at San Francisco State University in the early 1970’s and taught special needs children in the Bay Area. I already had extensive experience with autistic, sensory and/or physically handicapped children beginning in my teens. As a child, I had met Helen Keller through my M.D. father and spent many Sunday afternoons on house calls and hospital visits with him. My dreams were of being a nurse.

In California, I learned to appreciate the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. I began studying nutrition fervently. I moved to Seattle in the late 70’s, took a year-long professional training course in Massage Therapy and qualified for licensing in Washington State. One day in the 80’s, I met a stranger who told me about naturopathic medicine and I knew I’d found what I’d been looking for. At the same time, unbeknownst to me, my father had begun using nutrition and orthomolecular medicine in his practice in Connecticut.

After two years of pre-med studies at the University of Washington, I attended a four year federally accredited post-graduate program at Bastyr University. I earned a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine (N.D.) in 1988 and successfully completed state board examinations qualifying me as a Naturopathic Physician in Washington State. I did a year of Residency at Bastyr University’s teaching clinic, lectured at the University and then practiced for a year at the Tyringham Clinic in England.

I have been in private practice in the Concord area of Massachusetts for almost 15 years. I also worked in Newbury, MA with Dan Kinderlehrer, MD for a number of years. In August, 2005 I moved my practice from the Concord Clinic in West Concord to my beautiful home office in the historic town center of Harvard. I continue to maintain a license to practice in Washington State in the fervent hope that many years of efforts to establish licensure in Massachusetts will finally come to fruition. I am a member of the Massachusetts Society of Naturopathic Doctors (MSND) and the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP).
